DOI: Women in Science, Engineering, Technology & Construction Scholarship

The Victorian Government, through the Department of Infrastructure (DOI), is offering three $10,000 scholarships to female, full-time or part-time students starting or completing a Masters, PhD or graduate degree in the science, engineering, technology or construction-related fields.

Traditionally, both the public and private sectors of the Science, Engineering, Technology and Construction related industries have recruited and trained a higher number of men than women into senior management roles. In order to maintain and develop these industries in the future, it is important to attract a wider field of professional, educated people, both men and women.

While more women are now undertaking courses relevant to some of these industries, there are still relatively few that choose a management career path. Women with excellent technical and business skills, or the potential to develop these skills, need to be encouraged and supported to make a contribution.

The scholarships will be awarded for one year full time or two years part time study. The winners of the scholarships will also be given the opportunity to participate in part-time work at DOI during the year, subject to study constraints.
