Overseas exchange scholarship assistance from the Faculty

2004/2005 placements

The Faculty of Engineering will provide scholarship assistance for living costs for students who are successful in obtaining an International Student Exchange Program placement.

The Faculty Scholarship is a 'Top-Up' over and above the amount received from The Melbourne Scholarships Office and from other Central funding sources. Some Exchange universities also provide funding.

**Students should note that they will need to apply for Central funding and any additional financial assistance offered by the Melbourne Scholarship Office first before applying for the Faculty of Engineering 'Top-Up Funding'.

 

1. General Exchange Funding

Funding is available for all Engineering exchange placements. Students can choose to apply to one of the University's partner institutions listed at www.services.unimelb.edu.au/exchanges

Students MUST be Australian citizens to apply for UMAP funding.

UMAP funding is available to students seeking to go on exchange in Semester 2 2004 and Semester 1 2005. Places are strictly limited, please check UMAP funding information on website at: www.services.unimelb.edu.au/exchanges/goabroad/oth/UMAP.html

NOTE: You will be automatically considered for UMAP funding via the Melbourne Abroad Office during the exchange process, however you must apply for the Engineering 'Top-Up Funding' through the Faculty of Engineering.

Again, the Engineering 'Top-Up Funding' is only offered through the Faculty of Engineering.

Note: YOU WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FACULTY 'TOP UP FUNDING' UNLESS YOU HAVE APPLIED FOR THE MELBOURNE ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP AND ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE (E.G. MELBOURNE TRAVEL ASSISTANCE, FURTHER FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE) OFFERED THROUGH THE MELBOURNE SCHOLARSHIP'S OFFICE

Students should note all faculty scholarships are limited.

UMAP and overseas university funding are awarded according to academic merit. Places are limited.

Overseas university funding may be subject to change.

 

Before applying

steps you must take before applying for the Faculty of Engineering 'top-up funding':

Apply and secure a place at an International Exchange University (see website www.services.unimelb.edu.au/exchanges/)

Apply for a Melbourne Abroad Scholarship and other Financial Assistance recommended through the Melbourne Scholarships Office.

Make an appointment to see Ms Susan Loke, Faculty of Engineering, bringing the following documents for the 'Top-Up Funding':

Letter of Request for Faculty funding assistance
b
Copy of Letter of place offer from Exchange University
c
Copy of Letter/s of Financial Assistance awarded by Melbourne Scholarships
Office and from other Central funding sources
d
Proof of airline booking
e
Completed banking details form (forms are available on request)
