Geographic knowledge base

Project description

A knowledge base is a database of interconnected factual information, which have been used by search engines to answer queries that require reasoning between connected facts. However, existing knowledge bases do not have rich information in specific domains. This project develops the theoretical foundation and algorithms for the construction and querying of knowledge bases in a specific domain, geography, but with much larger coverage of geographic (spatial) entities and richer information than generic knowledge bases. This project will create a new line of research on geographic knowledge bases. It will provide easy access to rich geographic knowledge and
benefit users of location based services, navigation systems, and search engines.
