The purpose of the Engineering Learning Unit is to improve the learning experience for students, and the teaching experience for staff in the Engineering Faculty.
Specifically, the ELU acts:
- To improve student learning and engagement and teacher performance.
- To identify and disseminate best practice in engineering education.
- To encourage innovative curriculum design, including project-based learning.
- To create awareness of diversity, equity, and transition issues and develop strategies to capitalise on diversity in the classroom.
- To measure our progress in obtaining our educational gaols, and to foster new developments in engineering education.
Current projects
Current projects include:
- New first year subjects for 2008
- Working with staff to improve teaching quality scores
- Tutor training workshops
- Improving writing skills for undergraduates and postgraduates
- ACER testing of generic skills
