Start me up!

Do you know how to get discipline-related experience or how to look for graduate work? The Associate Dean (Industry) will launch the program with this interactive session aimed at helping you identify career-related activities and prepare your action plan. Learn about the opportunities available to you through vacation work, cooperatives, internships and graduate programs. This is for all local and international students who are in their penultimate, earlier year or final year of study, and are keen to expand their career options on a global scale.

2: Tues 7 August Think Tank,
Old Engineering
1-2pm
Resumé Health Check (Optional)

A team of C&E staff will facilitate this “five-minute resumé health check” session, which is on a drop-in basis during the hour. Engineering students (who have registered for the program) can have a C&E consultant critique their resumés and provide them with feedback and advice on areas of improvement. Students must bring a printed copy of their resumé.

Get Smart, Get Work!

Whether you are an international student seeking work in Australia or an Australian student seeking work internationally, this two-hour seminar and workshop will provide you with an overview of the current trends in the employment market across Asia-Pacific, the UK and Europe. This interactive session will focus on proactive job search strategies for international engineering careers. The workshop will incorporate hands-on activities practicing Networking skills such as Informational Interviewing and Cold Calling.

“All the World's a Stage” … Interview performance

Another interactive session on the interview process. Know what to expect and be prepared with some of the styles and types of interviews you might anticipate and take some of the anxiety out of the experience by being informed and practiced. A highly interactive session where you get the opportunity to participate in a mock interview, learning from this rare but valuable experience and feedback. Guest employers and C&E staff will lead small groups in practicing the behavioural interview technique.
