Disability Liaison

There is support on campus and the Faculty for students with physical and mental disabilities.

Students with long term or ongoing disabilities should contact the Disability Liaison Unit (Ground Floor, Richard Berry Building) to find out what type of support is available.

Students with short-term disabilities, for example broken arm, glandular fever, chronic pain should contact the Faculty Office on the ground floor, Old Engineering Building.

Students should provide a Special Consideration form and supporting documentation. This should be done at least one month prior to the examination or, in an emergency, as soon as possible.

The support available may be as follows:

  • Alternative examination arrangements
  • Holding the examination in an alternative venue (eg Student Health, Wilson Hall)
  • Extra writing time, extra reading time
  • Provision of the examination paper in an alternative format such as Braille or large print
  • Permission to take food and drink into the examination room
  • Extension of the usual time limit
  • Postponement of examinations if appropriate
  • Use of a scribe
  • Use of special equipment (eg ergonomic chair)
