Donors and Giving
The Melbourne School of Engineering is fortunate to have a committed and generous community of donors, comprising alumni as well as others who are keen to support the School’s activities, staff and students.
The Melbourne School of Engineering Foundation
The School’s efforts in these areas are enabled by a committed group of volunteers who are members of the Board of Management for the Melbourne School of Engineering Foundation (MSEF). The MSEF Board of Management works with senior staff both in the School and across the University to help generate financial and community support for the Melbourne School of Engineering.

Kernot Fellowship
The Kernot Fellowship was established in 2006 to recognize those who have indicated that they intend to leave a gift to the School of Engineering in their will while celebrating the success made possible through the support of current and future donors.
Members gather for an annual lunch and celebrate the achievements of the School in the previous year, with particular emphasis on the contributions made possible through bequests.
This bequest society was named after the most esteemed professor William Charles Kernot, who was both a founding recipient of the first Engineering Certificate offered by the University of Melbourne as well as the Founding Professor of Engineering.
A history of supporting the School, our staff and students
The Melbourne School of Engineering is committed to creating a supportive learning environment and enabling students to reach their full potential. Donations from alumni and friends help reward outstanding students and support students in financial need, as well as contribute to our research and teaching priorities.
Under the leadership of the then Dean, Professor Len Stevens, the Melbourne University Engineering Foundation (MUEF) was established in the early 1980’s through generous donations from engineering alumni, industry and the broader community. Thanks to the past and present support of donors, MUEF has continued to grow since that time and over the years has implemented a number of initiatives to support the work and development of the Melbourne School of Engineering, its staff and its students.
Since 2008, the School and the Foundation have been committed to building support for a major scholarship program for students entering the new professional Master of Engineering which commenced in 2011. The School is delighted to offer its sincere gratitude to the generous donors who have made this possible.

The Centre was partially funded with gifts from Engineering alumni and friends during 2007.

I am passionate about supporting exceptional engineering students who willingly extend their learning beyond the Melbourne experience… When I was Dean of Engineering I saw first-hand the impact of giving in helping students pursue their dreams.
