English Language - Alternative Entry for Graduates
All students studying at the University of Melbourne must satisfy the University's english language entry requirements. For graduate entry, Engineering offers an alternative.

For graduate coursework, the normal English language requirements are a minimum of:

The University of Melbourne English Language Bridging Program (UMELBP)
The UMELBP provides a direct English language pathway from Hawthorn-Melbourne to specific courses at the University of Melbourne. Students who have achieved an IELTS band 0.5 lower than their University of Melbourne course entry requirement may be able to proceed directly to their University studies upon successful completion of the UMELBP. Engineering English Language Alternative Entry for Graduate Coursework Students
Under the Engineering English Language Alternative Entry, graduate students who have achieved an overall IELTS score up to 0.5 points lower than the entry requirement described above and with no band more than 0.5 points below the requirement, may be eligible for a Masters by coursework offered by the Melbourne School of Engineering if they also agree to enrol in the School of Engineering English Language Alternative and to undertake an English Language subject at the University in the first semester of their studies. This may add another semester to the length of their program.
