These prestigious hubs of research expertise enable high-quality researchers to collaborate with other universities within Australia and overseas to maintain and develop Australia’s international standing in research areas of national priority. These are often discipline specific and include Australian Research Council Special Research Centres.

Collaborative Research Centres

These research centres are formed in association with other institutions.

Cooperative Research Centres (CRC)

The Australian government’s CRC program delivers social, economic and environmental benefits by encouraging collaboration between research institutions and industry with a strong commercialisation focus.
