Master of Engineering (Environmental)
Environmental engineers create sustainable solutions to environmental challenges. Students in this specialisation learn from staff active in research areas specialisations such as hydrology, irrigation and water management. The course has a strong focus on sustainability and project management.
Guest lectures and seminars by industry professionals are available to students, along with community project work and site visits that combine theory with practice.
Career opportunities exist in consulting firms, conservation and natural resource management agencies, environmental protection agencies, catchment management authorities, local, state and federal government and mining companies.
Entry Requirements
Admission to the Master of Engineering requires at least 65% GPA in the final two years of undergraduate study.
Pathways to the Master of Engineering (Environmental) include:
University of Melbourne New Generation undergraduate degrees in the following:
- Bachelor of Environments (Physical Systems) (3 years) followed by the Master of Engineering (Environmental) (2 years, points)
- Bachelor of Commerce (with Engineering breadth sequence in Civil Systems) (3 years) followed by the Master of Engineering (Environmental) (2 years, points)
- Bachelor of Science (Civil Systems) (3 years) followed by the Master of Engineering (Environmental) (2 years, points)
Any other bachelor degree:
Students graduating from any (minimum 3-year) degree program who have completed the equivalent of 25 points of first-year mathematics (specifically Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra or equivalent) and 25 points of science (any) may be admitted to the point (3-year) Master of Engineering (Environmental).
