Dean's Welcome
The Melbourne School of Engineering is proud to lead the development of engineering education, and at this point in its history, is introducing the first suite of Masters in Engineering to be accredited by Engineers Australia, the Institution of Engineers.
Available in eleven specialisations, the Master of Engineering offers graduates with an appropriate maths and science background the opportunity to qualify to enter the vibrant world of engineering. For engineering graduates, it presents the opportunity to enhance their career prospects through further study and specialised skills development in technical and entrepreneurial fields.
For both types of graduates, the Melbourne Master of Engineering delivers international accreditation and recognition – opening the door to global professional opportunities.
Why Melbourne? As the first engineering school to be established in Australia nearly 150 years ago, today Melbourne is recognised internationally as one of the best. Its education and research programs attract top class academics and high achieving students from around the world and they form a dynamic community of creative scholars (the word engineer comes from the Latin ingenerare: to create).
Innovation and creativity is at the heart of all we do. As well as developing and delivering dynamic courses that lead to exciting career opportunities, the Melbourne School of Engineering is a major player in such iconic research endeavours as the bionic eye, global water resource management solutions, the hydrogen economy, carbon sequestration, nanotechnology based drug delivery, and next generation internet technologies. This spirit of innovation and creativity also is reflected in the outstanding careers of our alumni, many of whom are recognised leaders in their industry and professional community.
The Melbourne School of Engineering offers a stimulating study environment where you can learn and interact with leading engineering academics and like-minded students.
The School looks forward to welcoming a new generation of outstanding individuals who seek to make a difference in the world through engineering. As Dean, it would be my pleasure to share this journey with you.
